WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is a Japanese term for Universal Life Force. It is actually two Japanese words: Rei, which means’s God’s wisdom or higher power, and Ki, which is the energy life force. Reiki is the intelligent life force that connects us to what we need. This energy is everywhere and unlimited, therefore everyone has access to this energy.
Reiki is a form of healing whereby the practitioner channels energy to heal him or herself and others. This is an excellent technique for reducing stress and promoting relaxation and also promotes increased self-awareness, and addresses physical, emotional, mental and energetic imbalances in people, animals, plants, and all other living things. Unlike other energy healing modalities, energy is not sent from the practitioner, but drawn in by the recipient, and will go when and where it’s needed. The practitioner is simply a channel through which this energy flows.
The basic principle is that the energy is channeled by the practitioner and flows through her hands to the recipient, who then draws in the energy. Reiki sessions are often done in-person, with the practitioner holding various hand positions to lightly touch the recipient’s body or hover slightly above it. However, this energy can also be channeled across distances from one person to another (or to an animal or even a city, a nation, or a situation). This is referred to as a distance Reiki session. You can learn the specifics of Reiki on countless Internet sites with a simple search, or feel free to email jean@inspiredpositivechange.com if you would like more information.
I am a certified Master Level Reiki practitioner, and I practice daily sessions for myself as part of my routine to keep healthy and well-balanced. I also use Reiki to keep my coaching practice aligned with my own and my clients’ highest good. I offer in-person or distance reiki sessions. Coaching clients may also request reiki sessions, as a separate modality outside of the coaching relationship.
